Island Girls

If you’ve ever taken the old bridge from Cebu to Lapu-Lapu at night, you might’ve noticed something different as you get near Pajo. That’s where the “Island Girls” hang out. They’re known for charging less than the girls in Cebu City, catering to folks looking for something quick and discreet.

It’s a pretty simple setup—no fancy signs or anything. You just turn on your high beams as you drive by, and that’s their cue. Suddenly, you’ll see them lining up along the roadside, casually leaning against posts or sitting on curbs, waiting for a signal that someone’s interested. They’re not flashy or over-the-top, just regular girls looking to make some cash in their own way.

Some of the locals even joke about it, saying it’s “part of the scenery” on that stretch of road.

The scene almost sneaks up on you. They’re dressed simply—some in short skirts or jeans, others in tight tops that show just enough to catch your attention without giving too much away. it’s like an unspoken signal. A few of them step forward, making themselves a bit more visible, looking you over as much as you’re looking at them. They’ve got their own system, a way of silently working out who’s new and who’s a regular. If they catch a hint of interest, one or two might approach your window, asking if you’re looking for “company” or giving a subtle nod, as if to say they know why you’re here.

Prices are low, way lower than what you’d find back in Cebu City, and each girl has her own little pitch. “No games, straight to the point,” one of them says with a smirk, leaning close enough for you to catch her perfume. Others are quieter, just giving you a look that says they know exactly how this works.

For those who decide to take them up on their offer, there’s usually a quick negotiation, and then they’ll hop on a motorbike with you, guiding you down a few winding roads that lead to small inns or tucked-away spots where privacy isn’t questioned. These places are no-frills, almost bare-bones, but they serve the purpose.

Some drivers pass by the scene regularly, just out of curiosity or maybe for the thrill of seeing this other side of Cebu. It’s part of the undercurrent of the city’s nightlife, a quieter, rougher layer hidden under the bright lights and busier streets.
